The present invention relates to a system for separating a mixture containing at least two components, each component having a different volatility. The separation is achieved through the use of a fractional distillation column (12) and upper and lower storage vessels (16, 16a, 18a) in conjunction with a chilling unit (14) for forming a liquid phase of the mixture and a generator (18) for forming a gas phase of the mixture.
