An electrical connector for use in subsea applications, the connector comprising a receptacle component comprising a fluted, insulated male contact pin, and a plug component comprising a contact assembly. On engagement of the receptacle component and plug component in use, a watertight electrical connection is formed between the male contact pin and the contact assembly. The receptacle component further comprises an isolation tube substantially surrounding the insulated male contact pin over at least part of its length and containing oil therein, in use.

L'invention concerne un connecteur électrique destiné à une utilisation dans des applications sous-marines, le connecteur comprenant un composant de prise de courant, une broche de contact mâle isolée à rainures et un composant de fiche comprenant un assemblage de contact. Lors de la mise en prise du composant de prise de courant et du composant de fiche en service, une connexion électrique étanche à l'eau est formée entre la broche mâle de contact et l'assemblage de contact. Le composant de prise de courant comprend en outre, en service, un tube d'isolement entourant sensiblement la broche mâle isolée de contact sur au moins une partie de sa longueur et contenant en lui de l'huile.
