A mattress assembly having upper and lower support decks yieldably spaced apart by springs. The support decks and springs cooperate to define a sleep area designed for comfort and having linearly segmented, composite long wires as well as a sit area. The construction design enables a reduction in the amount of wire needed to form the support decks of the assembly and eliminates the need for deck wires extending both transversely and longitudinally of the assembly.
