Video conferencing system including stations at a plurality of different sites, and in which system first and second video channels are simultaneously displayed at each site station on a picture-in-picture video monitor (24), a site controller (28) causes a video decoder (14) at the site to decode either a video signal generated at the site or a video signal received from another site via the first video channel. The site controller (28) also responds to a channel assignment signal generated by a system controller by assigning the first video channel to either a first predetermined broadcast frequency or to a second predetermined broadcast frequency and by assigning a second video channel carrying a video signal received from another site to the other available broadcast frequency. The system controller processes channel allocation requests signals with a predetermined priority from the different sites to generate the channel assignment signals.
Cette invention concerne un système de vidéoconférence comprenant des stations se trouvant réparties sur plusieurs sites différents, et dans lequel un premier et un second canal vidéo sont affichés simultanément dans chaque station de site sur un moniteur vidéo (24) à image incrustée. Une unité de commande (28) de site commande à un décodeur vidéo (14) sur le site de décoder soit un signal vidéo généré sur le site, soit un signal vidéo reçu d'un autre site par l'intermédiaire du premier canal vidéo. L'unité de commande (28) de site répond également à un signal d'attribution de canal généré par une unité de commande du système, en attribuant le premier canal vidéo soit à une première fréquence de diffusion prédéterminée, soit à une seconde fréquence de diffusion prédéterminée, et en attribuant un second canal vidéo portant un signal vidéo reçu d'un autre site, à l'autre fréquence de diffusion disponible. L'unité de commande du système traite les signaux de demandes d'allocation de canaux provenant des différents sites selon une priorité prédéterminée afin de générer les signaux d'attribution des canaux.
