The invention concerns a process and device for MIG welding with gas shielding and modulated spray regime for aluminum, particularly aluminum alloys or stainless steels, in which the current is modulated at a modulation frequency below 60 Hz. The shielding gas contains at least 90% helium, argon or one of their mixtures, and not more than 1.95% of a minority gaseous compound, either oxygen or carbon dioxide. This process makes it possible to obtain effective degassing of most of the diffusible hydrogen that is likely to be in the puddle of molten metal and to improve the quality aspect of the weld beads so achieved on parts or equipment intended for the rail transport, naval, aeronautics, highway or space industries, or for the chemical, petrochemical, electronic, nuclear or agrochemical industries.

L'invention a trait à un procédé et un dispositif de soudage MIG avec protection gazeuse et à régime spray modulé de l'aluminium, en particulier des alliages d'aluminium ou des aciers inoxydables, dans lequel on opère une modulation du courant à une fréquence de modulation inférieure à 60 Hz. Le gaz de protection contient au moins 90% d'hélium, d'argon ou d'un de leurs mélanges, et d'au plus 1.95% d'au moins un composé gazeux minoritaire, choisi parmi l'oxygène et le dioxyde de carbone. Ce procédé permet d'obtenir un dégazage efficace de la majeure partie de l'hydrogène diffusible susceptible de se trouver dans le bain de métal en fusion et d'améliorer l'aspect et la qualité des cordons de soudure ainsi réalisés sur les pièces ou équipements destinés à l'industrie du transport ferroviaire, naval, aéronautique, routier ou spatial, ou à l'industrie chimique,pétrochimique, électronique, nucléaire ou agrochimique.
