The present invention provides a human mago nashi protein (HUMAGO) and polynucleotides which encode HUMAGO. The invention also provides genetically engineered expression vectors and host cells, and a method for producing HUMAGO. The invention also provides for agonists, antisense molecules, antibodies, or antagonists of HUMAGO, and the use thereof for the prevention and treatment of diseases associated with expression of HUMAGO. The invention also provides diagnostic assays which utilize the polynucleotide, or fragments or the complement thereof, and antibodies specifically binding HUMAGO.
