A database storage structure for experimental results has at least one storage table for storing the results, at least one annotation storage table for storing a first set of variables, and at least one second annotation storage table for storing a second limited set of variables. The second annotation storage table is coupled to a concordance table to store a concordance between the second set of variables and a list of annotations. A method for entering annotations into a database storage structure is also disclosed.
