- 10 - Abstract In order to compensate the effects of mechanical oscillations of the salient pole rotor in a synchronous machine in a simple manner, according to the invention control coils (8) are provided which generate a control- lable quadrature-axis magnetic field (.DELTA.B). The control coils (8) are arranged on the salient pole rotor (1) in such a way that the quadrature-axis magnetic field (.DELTA.B) generated by the control coils (8) is superimposed in the air gap on the controllable direct-axis magnetic field (Bo) generated by the known exciting coils (7).
