An animal cover with securing means includes,a cover (6) adapted to lay over the back of an animal (18) and having first and second side portions (11) which extend down either side of the animal (18).First parts (13) of engagement means are disposed can either side portion (11) of the cover. First and second straps (10) have first ends attached at or near the rear edge (9) of the cover (6), and have second party (12) of the engagement means attached at second ends. The straps (10) pass between the rear legs (17) of the animal (18), the first part (13) of each engagement means engaging with the corresponding second part (12) of each engagement means thereby securing the cover (6) to animal (18),
