A method and apparatus for preparing a patient's proximal tibia is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an instrument body (22), a rod (21) to track the intramedullary canal, a cutting guide (20) for guiding a cutting blade during cutting of the patient's tibia, and means for setting the depth of a cut with respect to the tibia. This allows the surgeon to reference surgical cuts to prepare a tibia to receive a prosthesis.

L'appareil comprend un corps d'instrument (22), une tige (21) destinée à suivre le canal intramédulaire, un guide de coupe (20) destiné à guider une lame de coupe pendant une opération de coupe effectuée sur le tibia d'un patient, et un moyen destiné à établir la profondeur d'une coupe par rapport au tibia. Ainsi le chirurgien peut établir la référence de coupe chirurgicale afin de préparer un tibia destiné à recevoir une prothèse.
