The present invention provides an apparatus for forming a profiled pipe in which the apparatus includes a plastic extruder extruding plastic to the forward end of a mold tunnel formed by mold blocks having shaped inner faces which determine the particular profile of the pipe. A negative pressure region is provided within the mold tunnel slightly downstream of its forward end where vacuum from the negative pressure forces the flowing plastic on to the inner faces of the mold blocks. Also provided is a reservoir at the forward end of the mold tunnel. The reservoir provides a region through which the plastic is moved smoothly from the extruder to the negative pressure region of the mold tunnel where the plastic is then transferred from the reservoir evenly onto the mold block faces.
