A method and a system for maintaining coherence of cache contents in a multi- tiered architecture of servers are described. This includes a front tier of satellite servers, each operating a local cache, and a middle tier of central servers each operating a central cache. Central servers interface with databases through database servers to retrieve the data elements used to construct objects and store them in central caches. Once constructed, objects are attributed a time-to-live (TTL) and stored in central caches then, forwarded to the satellite servers where they are stored in local caches before being delivered to the software applications that have requested them. They are invalidated when outdated and reconstructed from a central server from where they are forwarded to all central caches and to the local caches where they are needed.
L'invention concerne un système et procédé permettant de maintenir la cohérence de contenus placés en antémémoire dans une architecture de serveurs à plusieurs niveaux. Cette architecture comprend un niveau antérieur de serveurs de satellites exploitant chacun une antémémoire locale, et un niveau intermédiaire de serveurs centraux exploitant chacun une antémémoire centrale. Des serveurs centraux font offfice d'interfaces avec des bases de données, par l'intermédiaire de serveurs de bases de données, pour extraire les éléments de données utilisés pour construire des objets et les stocker dans des antémémoires centrales. Après construction des objets, un temps de survie (TTL) leur est attribuée et ils sont stockés dans des antémémoires centrales. Les objets sont ensuite transmis aux serveurs de satellites où ils sont stockés dans des antémémoires locales avant d'être mis à la disposition des applications logicielles qui les ont demandé. Ils sont invalidés lorsque leur temps de survie a expiré, puis reconstruits à partir d'un serveur central et transmis de là à toutes les antémémoires centrales et antémémoires locales où ils sont utiles.
