The photocatalyst according to the present invention which exhibits a high catalytic function in the visible-light range comprises an oxide composite having a junction formed by oxide semiconductors (I) and (II) which have photocatalytic properties with each other and whose energy levels of electrons at the bottom of the conduction band and energy levels of electrons at the top of the valence band in an energy band structure, based on the vacuum levels, differ from each other; at least one of the oxide semiconductors having photocatalytic properties even in the visible-light range. The oxide semiconductor (I) having photocatalytic properties even in the visible-lights range is exemplified by a pyrochlore-related structural oxide Ce2Zr2O8.0, and the oxide semiconductor (II) by an anatase-type titanium oxide.
L'invention concerne un photocatalyseur présentant une activité catalytique élevée dans une zone de lumière visible. Ce photocatalyseur se caractérise en ce qu'il se compose d'un complexe d'oxydes comprenant une jonction de semi-conducteurs d'oxyde (I) et (II) présentant chacun des caractéristiques photocatalytiques et fournissant un niveau énergétique d'électron sur le bas d'une bande de conduction différent du niveau énergétique d'électron sur le haut d'une bande de valence dans une structure de bandes d'énergie par référence à un niveau de vide, le semi-conducteur (I) au moins présentant des caractéristiques photocatalytiques, y compris dans une zone de lumière visible. Ledit semi-conducteur (I) comprend un oxyde de Ce>2<Zr>2<O>8,0< de structure associée au pyrochlore, le semi-conducteur d'oxyde (II) comprenant un oxyde de titane du type anatase.
