The present invention concerns a method and camera for obtaining a high- contrast image of a predetermined target present in an area under observation. The method involves obtaining an in-band image of the observation area including the target using a filter whose bands are aligned with selected characteristic wavelength bands of the target and an out-of-band image of the observation area excluding the target using the filter with its bands non- aligned with the selected characteristic wavelength bands of the target. Processing of the in-band and out- of-band images results in a high-contrast image highlighting the presence of the target in the observation area and thereby allowing its detection and monitoring.

Procédé et appareil de prise de vues donnant une image à fort contraste de cible préétablie présente dans une zone d'observation. Le procédé consiste à recueillir une image dans la bande de ladite zone, englobant la cible, par le biais d'un filtre dont les bandes sont alignées sur des bandes de longueur d'ondes caractéristiques spécifiques de la cible, et une image hors bande de ladite zone, n'englobant la cible, par le biais d'un filtre dont les bandes ne sont pas alignées sur les bandes spécifiques susmentionnées de la cible. Le traitement des images dans la bande et hors bande donne une image à fort contraste qui rehausse la présence de la cible dans la zone d'observation et permet donc la détection et la surveillance correspondantes.
