An improved partial reflector is disclosed in which the reflector is configured to provide selected levels of reflectance, transmittance and efficiency that are substantially uniform over the visible wavelength range of 400 to 700 nanometers. This result is achieved using a special three-layer coating that includes a metal layer sandwiched between two metal oxide dielectric layers having relatively high refractive indices > 2Ø Advantageously, the three layers all incorporate the same metal, preferably niobium.
L'invention concerne un réflecteur partiel amélioré configuré pour fournir des niveaux sélectionnés de réflectance, de transmittance et de rendement sensiblement uniformes dans la gamme de longueur d'ondes visible de 400 à 700 nanomètres. Ce résultat est obtenu à l'aide d'un revêtement spécial à trois couches qui comporte une couche métallique prise en sandwich entre deux couches diélectriques d'oxyde métallique à indices de réfraction relativement élevés supérieurs à 2,0. Pour plus d'efficacité, les trois couches renferment le même métal, de préférence du niobium.
