The subject invention provides a polymer mixture having high heat resistivity, low hexane-extractive and controllably lower or higher modulus. The mixture is comprised of at least one first substantially linear ethylene polymer, Component (A), and at least one second ethylene polymer which is a homogeneously branched polymer, heterogeneously branched linear polymer or a non-high density. When fabricated into film, the mixture is characterized by a heat seal initiation temperature which is substantially lower than its vicat softening point as well as a high ultimate hot tack strength. When fabricated as a molded article, the mixture is characterized by high microwave warp distortion while maintaining a lower modulus. The polymer mixture is particularly well-suited for use in multilayer film structures as a sealant layer for such applications as cook-in packages, hot-fill packages, and barrier shrink films. In molding applications, the mixture is well-suited as freezer-to-microwave food storage containers and lids which maintain good flexibility at low temperature to allow easy openability of such containers.

L'invention porte sur un mélange de polymères à forte résistance à la chaleur, à faible dégagement d'hexane et à module d'élasticité contrôlable. Ledit mélange comporte au moins un premier polymère d'éthylène sensiblement linéaire, le composant A, et au moins un deuxième polymère d'éthylène à ramification homogène, à ramification hétérogène ou à densité peu élevée. Sous forme de film, le mélange se caractérise par sa température de début de thermoscellage t sensiblement inférieure à son point de ramollissement Vicat ainsi que par sa forte adhérence ultime à chaud; sous forme d'articles moulés, le mélange se caractérise par son fort gauchissement sous l'effet des micro-ondes et son faible module d'élasticité. Ledit mélange est particulièrement bien adapté pour constituer la couche étanche de structures multicouches servant par exemple pour des produits à cuire dans leur emballage, des emballages remplis à chaud, ou des films de protection rétractables; en ce qui concerne les articles moulés, le mélange peut servir de récipient (couvercle compris) de stockage d'aliments en réfrigérateur et en four micro-onde conservant à basse température une souplesse en facilitant l'ouverture.
