The objective of the present invention is to devise an m- commerce system which, without need for transferring credit card numbers or other confidential information relat- ing to a customer, offers providers of services and goods a centralized site that performs customer's validation, checks solvency, makes an invoice, carries out clearing of accounts, and collects and processes statistical informa- tion. The m-commerce system stores virtual bank ac- counts for each customer joined to the system. The ac- count indicates the customer's solvency. The system also stores information about the customers and merchants joined to the system. The system receives a solvency in- quiry sent by a merchant through the mobile telecommu- nications network. In response to the inquiry the m- commerce system checks whether the customer has sol- vency for the purchase. If so, the merchant server sends a sale message that includes all the details of the transac- tion concerned. In response to the sale message the m- commerce system starts data processing, during which the merchant's account is credited, the customer's ac- count is debited, and statistics and necessary databases are updated.
