A device for aerating a surgical cast, brace, splint or other orthopedic device is disclosed. The aerating device comprises a pair of flexible panels, each having opposed faces. One of said panels is adapted to permit air communication between its opposed faces. The panels are secured to one another in stacked relation, such that opposed faces of the panels define a pair of interior faces presenting toward one another and a pair of exterior faces presenting away from one another. Channels traverse the stack, between the panels, to permit, via passage between said panels, air communication between atmosphere and the interior face of said one of said pair of panels. The device can be wrapped around a limb, and a cast applied thereover. The channels permit evaporation of any moisture contained in the cast. A pressure-relieving device is also disclosed.
