An apparatus for reaming a bone canal, such as the medullary canal of a femur, has a flexible shaft (12, 92) with a proximal end (16) for engaging a rotary transmission source. A first reamer (14, 61) is coupled to the distal end of the flexible shaft for rotation therewith to prepare the distal portion of the canal. A second reamer (22, 93) coupled with the proximal portion of the shaft to form the proximal end of the lateral portion of the canal and/or the medial calcar region of the canal. The apparatus further comprises a metaphysical template (70, 80) having the shape of the prosthesis for guiding the reaming apparatus in forming the calcar region of the canal.

Un appareil conçu pour aléser un canal osseux, tel que le canal médullaire du fémur, possède un arbre flexible (12, 92) dont une extrémité proximale (16) est prévue pour venir en contact avec une source de transmission rotative. Un premier alésoir (14, 61) est couplé à l'extrémité distale de l'arbre flexible afin de tourner avec celui-ci et de préparer la partie distale du canal. Un second alésoir (22, 93) est couplé à la partie proximale de l'arbre afin de former l'extrémité proximale de la partie latérale du canal et/ou la région médiale du calcar du canal.
