A laser having two feedback elements (17, 11), at least one which (11) is wavelength selective, is provided with a demountable optical connector (3, 13) located between the gain medium of the laser and the wavelength selective feedback element (11). An optical waveguide (3, 13) is utilised to direct optical radiation between the demountable optical connector (3, 13) and the wavelength selective feedback element (11). The demountable optical connector for example a mechanical fibre connector (3, 13), allows the wavelength selective feedback element, for example a fibre grating, to be exchanged cheaply, simply and quickly, and thus allows the wavelength of operation of the laser to be altered.

Un laser possédant deux éléments de rétroaction (17, 11), dont au moins un (11) présente une sélectivité de longueur d'onde, comporte un connecteur optique démontable (3, 13) situé entre le milieu de gain du laser et l'élément de rétroaction (11) à sélectivité de longueur d'onde. Un guide d'ondes optique (3, 13) est utilisé pour diriger un rayonnement optique entre le connecteur optique démontable (3, 13) et l'élément de rétroaction (11) à sélectivité de longueur d'onde. Le connecteur optique démontable, par exemple un connecteur de fibres mécanique (3, 13), permet de remplacer économiquement, facilement et rapidement l'élément de rétroaction à sélectivité de longueur d'onde, par exemple un réseau de fibres, et, de ce fait, de modifier la longueur d'onde opérationnelle du laser.
