A respiratory mask (10) includes a mask frame (14), a cushion (40) and a retaining element (42). The retaining element (42) is embedded within the cush-ion (40) and is configured to secure the cushion (40) to the mask frame (14). Forehead pads (18) can be positioned in the mask frame (14) and be adjustable independent of one another and with respect to the mask frame (14).
