An apparatus for clamping, cutting, and collecting a blood sample from an umbilical cord is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing (10) for receiving and entrapping a section of umbilical cord. The housing is formed by a lid (12) and a handle (16) connected at a hinge. Upon closing the lid, the umbilical cord is clamped within a clamp (20) removably connected to the housing. A slidable blade (36) cuts the umbilical cord using a sliding motion.

L'invention se rapporte à un dispositif permettant d'enserrer et de couper un cordon ombilical afin de prélever un échantillon de sang. Le compartiment (10) du dispositif dans lequel on enserre une partie du cordon ombilical est formé d'un couvercle (12) et d'une poignée (16) reliés par une charnière. A la fermeture du couvercle, une mâchoire (20) amovible rattachée au compartiment permet d'enserrer le cordon ombilical. Une lame coulissante (36) permet de couper le cordon ombilical selon un mouvement coulissant.
