A method of wetting soil in the spring includes removing snow from the ground only in separate local areas which are spaced from one another so that snow remains in the spaces between the local areas, so that thereafter the soil in the region of the local areas in which the snow is removed thaws and becomes soft, and when snow between the areas melts it wets the thawed areas and water produced from the melted snow penetrates through the thus softened areas.
