118-7645 ABSTRACT .alpha.-[10-oxy-4H-benzo[4,5]cyclohepta[l,2-b]thiophen-4-ylidene] carboxylic acids, for example [10-methoxy-4H-benzo[4,5]- cyclophepta[l,2-b]thiophen-4-ylidene]-acetic acid, in particular its (Z)-isomer, their physiologically-hydro- lysable and -acceptable esters, as well as pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof are useful in treating eosinophil accumulation/activation, and are suitable, e.g. for the treatment of obstructive and inflammatory airways desease, for example asthma, as well as other allergic and non-allergic disorders and conditions, for example eosinophil-related disorders of various type.
