Abstract of the disclosure Higher and more individualized ski boot shafts make it increasingly more difficult to size ski boots by a conventional sizing system based on the common shoe. This invention relates to an attachable and detachable ski boot shaft having indicia to classify ski boot shaft sizing. The basic shaft comprises two rigid side flanges and a rigid interchangeable collar which supports the leg mid calve. This collar, taking advantage of the natural leg taper, does not require any means of adjustment, providing a substantial reduction in weight and manufacturing costs. In another embodiment of this invention, the shaft side flanges are semi flexible, providing shaft residing resilience. In still another embodiment, the shaft comprises shaft attached springs.
