Les déchets d'épuration de fumées (DEF), riches en chaux, sont mélangés avec un produit contenant au moins 60 % de silice et/ou alu- mine pour amener le pH à une valeur comprise entre 7 et 11,5 ainsi qu'avec une quantité d'eau comprise entre 15 % et 160 % du poids de déchets et dudit produit. En pratique, le rapport Si02 et/ou A1203 sur Ca0 doit être au moins égal à 0;8. On obtient des compositions solides, pratiquement insolubles dans 1'eau et non polluantes.
