2124337 9311518 PCTABS00022 A contact sensor (8) comprises a first sheet (10) of flexible material and second sheet (24). The sheets (10, 24) are capable of being energized to establish an electrical potential thereon. The two sheets (10, 24) are formed of materials that tend to stick together. To keep the sheets apart, a plurality of substantially uniform discrete insulating islands (40) are used. By the use of a non-square insulating island spacing pattern with the island spacing satisfying rigorous criteria, the two sheets (10, 24) can be prevented from sticking together without unduly increasing the amount of force required to activate the device (8). The sensor (8) is particularly useful as a transparent touchscreen.
Un détecteur de contact (8) comprend une première plaque (10) en matériau souple et une deuxième plaque (24). Lesdites plaques (10, 24) peuvent être alimentées, de façon à créer un potentiel électrique sur leur surface. Les deux plaques (10, 24) sont constituées par des matériaux présentant une tendance à coller l'un à l'autre. Afin de conserver un espacement entre lesdites plaques, on utilise une pluralité d'îlots (40) isolants, discrets et uniformes. En utilisant une configuration d'espacement d'îlots isolants non carrée, l'espacement des îlots répondant à des critètres rigoureux, on peut empêcher les deux plaques (10, 24) de coller l'une à l'autre sans augmenter considérablement la force nécessaire pour activer le dispositif (8). Le détecteur (8) est particulièrement efficace en tant qu'écran tactile transparent.
