2108036 9216852 PCTABS00016 Spectral and imaging data (Fig. 9, Fig. 15, Fig. 18) is corrected for various types of distorsion, such as phase and baseline distorsion, by fitting a mathematical model of the expected data to the experimental data. The model includes parameters relating to the distorsions to be corrected. The model is fitted to the data by adjusting model parameters, generally through a regression analysis, and when a best fit is obtained, the parameters resulting in the best fit provide the information necessary to correct the data. The inventive method is used to produce phase and baseline corrected spectra (Fig. 10, Fig. 16, Fig. 21), or the corrected data is used in magnetic shimming, wherein phased spectral data is used with a magnetic shim coil distorsion model, or with moment minimization of resonance frequency distribution to direct magnet shimming.
