A process is set forth for the cryogenic distillation of an air feed to produce nitrogen, particularly high pressure nitrogen of various purity, varying from low purity (up to 98% nitrogen) to ultra-high purity (less than 1 part per billion of oxygen). The nitrogen may be produced at two different pressures and two different purities. The process used an auxiliary low pressure separation zone in addition to the conventional high pressure column and low pressure column. The auxiliary low pressure separation zone, which is operated at the same pressure as the low pressure column and which is heat integrated with the top of the high pressure column by means of its bottom reboiler/condenser, pretreats the crude liquid oxygen from the bottom of the high pressure column.
Distillation cryogénique d'une alimentation d'air pour la production d'azote, notamment d'azote sous haute pression, de pureté variable, allant d'une pureté faible (jusqu'à 98 % d'azote) à ultra-élevée (moins de 1 partie par milliard d'oxygène). L'azote peut être produit sous deux pressions et à deux puretés différentes. Le procédé fait appel à une zone de séparation auxiliaire faible pression, en plus de la colonne classique haute pression et de la colonne basse pression. La zone de séparation auxiliaire basse pression, qui fonctionne à la même pression que la colonne basse pression, et qui est thermiquement intégrée avec le haut de la colonne haute pression par l'intermédiaire de son rebouilleur/condenseur de queue, prétraite l'oxygène liquide brut depuis le bas de la colonne haute pression.
