The present invention provides substances which suppress or promote apoptosis of nerve cells, methods far screening them, and methods for diagnosis and treatment of diseases associated with apoptosis and kits therefore. Specifically, the present invention provides suppress or promote functions of CGI-94 protein or the interaction of CGI-94 protein with Smac/DIABLO to suppress or promote apoptosis. In addition, the present invention also provides a p18TFP protein and its coding DNA as an apoptosis suppressing substance, and pharmaceutical compositions for treating diseases associated with apoptosis, which comprises said protein or DNA.
L'invention concerne des substances inhibant ou promouvant l'apoptose des cellules nerveuses, un procédé servant à cribler ces substances, ainsi que des procédés et des trousses servant à diagnostiquer et à traiter une maladie associée à l'apoptose. Elle concerne, plus particulièrement, des substances inhibant ou promouvant la fonction de la protéine CGI-94 ou l'interaction entre cette protéine CGI-94 et Smac/DIABLO afin d'inhiber ou de promouvoir l'apoptose. Elle concerne, de plus, une protéine p18TFP en tant qu'inhibiteur d'apoptose et l'ADN la codant, et des compositions médicamenteuses servant à traiter une maladie associée à l'apoptose et contenant ladite protéine ou ledit ADN.
