A method and apparatus for validating a vehicle operator. In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises an input device for allowing entry of vehicle operator identification information, a transceiver for transmitting a validation request and for receiving a response to the request, a memory for storing pre- determined identification information, an interface for allowing a processor to communication with a vehicle sub-system, and a processor connected to the input device, the transceiver, the memory, and the interface, the processor for receiving the vehicle operator identification information from the input device, for generating the validation request if at least a portion of the vehicle operator identification information is not found in the memory, and for controlling operation of the vehicle via the interface, in accordance with instructions contained in the response.
L'invention porte sur un procédé et un appareil de validation de l'utilisateur d'un véhicule. Dans une exécution, l'appareil comporte: un dispositif permettant d'entrer les informations d'identification de l'utilisateur; un émetteur/récepteur émettant la demande de validation et recevant la réponse à la demande; une mémoire enregistrant les informations prédéterminées d'identification; une interface permettant à un processeur de communiquer avec un sous-système du véhicule; et un processeur, relié au dispositif d'entrée d'informations, à l'émetteur/récepteur, et à l'interface, et recevant du dispositif d'entrée d'informations les informations d'identification de l'utilisateur pour formuler une demande de validation à un site éloigné si au moins une partie de l'information d'identification de l'utilisateur n'est pas trouvée dans la mémoire et pour gérer l'utilisation du véhicule par l'intermédiaire de l'interface, en accord avec les instructions contenues dans la réponse.
