A computer-implemented system and method for performing video compression is described. A method according to one embodiment includes encoding a first plurality of video frames or portions thereof, wherein each encoded video frame or portion is dependent on a previously-encoded video frame or portion thereof. The method further includes transmitting the first plurality of encoded video frames or portions to a client device and receiving feedback information from the client device, the feedback information usable to determine whether data contained in the video frames or portions has not been successfully received and/or decoded; in response to detecting that a video frame has not been successfully received and/or decoded, encoding a current video frame or portion thereof to be dependent on a previously-encoded video frame or portion thereof known to have been successfully received and/or decoded; and transmitting the current video frame or portion thereof to the client device.
L'invention concerne un système informatisé et un procédé de mise en oeuvre d'une compression vidéo. Un procédé, selon un mode de réalisation de l'invention, consiste à coder une première pluralité de trames vidéo ou des parties de celles-ci, chaque trame vidéo ou partie de celle-ci codée étant tributaire d'une trame vidéo ou d'une partie de celle-ci antérieurement codée. Le procédé consiste ensuite à transmettre la première pluralité de trames vidéo ou des parties de celles-ci à un dispositif client et à recevoir de celui-ci des informations en retour utilisables pour déterminer si des données contenues dans les trames vidéo ou des parties de celles-ci ont été correctement reçues et/ou décodées; s'il est détecté qu'une trame vidéo n'a pas été correctement reçue et/ou décodée, coder une trame vidéo courante ou une partie de celle-ci de façon qu'elle soit tributaire d'une trame vidéo ou d'une partie de celle-ci antérieurement codée dont on sait qu'elle a été correctement reçue et/ou décodée, et transmettre la trame vidéo courante ou une partie de celle-ci au dispositif client.
