ABSTRACT A system for integrating an object-oriented application program with relational database management systems. The system utilizes a semantic meta-model repository stored in a relational database to capture the object model of an application program. The system provides code generation of Smalltalk or persistent C++ classes and the code generation permits repeated regeneration to accommodate changes to object model without loss of developer written code in the application program. The system features object modelling including aggregation, containment, and n-ary associations. The system also includes a graphical user interface which provides a front-end modelling interface to the resident repository of the relational database management system.
