A filter assembly is provided having a housing defining a housing edge. A tapping plate is also provided and is generally circular in shape. The tapping plate defines a tapping plate edge and includes a fluid inlet port and a fluid outlet port. Preferably, the at least one fluid outlet port is a central threaded aperture to enable the filter assembly to be secured to a filter mount of an engine. An interconnecting device is included for interconnecting the housing and the tapping plate. The interconnecting device further retains an external seal generally about the tapping plate edge. The external seal is an economically formed lathe-cut gasket and the interconnecting device includes a first and second extension member. The first extension is formed integrally with the tapping plate at the tapping plate edge. The second extension member is formed integrally with the housing at the housing edge. The second extension member extends substantially around the first extension member, thereby providing a seamless interconnection and a generally flat surface for retaining the lathe-cut gasket. Alternatively, the interconnecting device includes a seal support tray. The seal support tray is generally U- shaped and includes opposing first and second legs. The first and second legs are positioned adjacent the lathe-cut gasket. The second extension member extends substantially around the first extension member and the first leg of the seal support tray, thereby providing an interconnection impervious to fluid leakage.

L'invention concerne un ensemble filtre doté d'un boîtier définissant un bord de boîtier et d'une plaque de soutirage, généralement de forme circulaire, définissant un bord de plaque de soutirage et comportant un orifice d'entrée de liquide et un orifice de sortie de liquide. Au moins un des orifices de sortie de liquide est constitué par une ouverture centrale filetée permettant de fixer l'ensemble filtre à la monture de filtre d'un moteur. Un dispositif d'interconnexion permet d'interconnecter le boîtier et la plaque de soutirage, et de retenir un joint externe généralement autour du bord de ladite plaque. Ce joint externe est un joint coupé au tour, à faible coût de revient. Le dispositif d'interconnexion comporte un premier et un second élément d'extension. Le premier élément d'extension est formé intégralement avec la plaque de soutirage, au niveau du bord de celle-ci. Le second élément d'extension est formé intégralement avec le boîtier, au niveau du bord de celui-ci, et s'étend sensiblement autour du premier élément d'extension, ce qui assure un raccord sans soudure et une surface généralement plane pour retenir le joint coupé au tour. Le dispositif d'interconnexion peut également comporter un plateau support de joint, généralement en U, comprenant un premier et un second bras opposés. Le premier et le second bras sont adjacents au joint coupé au tour. Le second élément d'extension s'étend sensiblement autour du premier élément d'extension et du premier bras du plateau support de joint, ce qui assure un raccord étanche à toute fuite de liquide.
