The present invention relates to methods for regulating the condition of mammalian keratinous tissue wherein the methods comprise the step of topically applying to the keratinous tissue of a mammal needing such treatment, a safe and effective amount of a composition comprising: a) a safe and effective amount of farnesol; and b) a dermatologically-acceptable carrier for the farnesol. In additional embodiments, the above composition is suitable for thickening skin and preventing and/or retarding atrophy of mammalian skin, preventing and/or retarding the appearance of spider vessels and/or red blotchiness on mammalian skin, preventing and/or retarding the appearance of dark circles under the eye of a mammal, preventing and/or retarding sallowness of mammalian skin, preventing and/or retarding sagging of mammalian skin, softening and/or smoothing lips, hair and nails of a mammal, and preventing and/or relieving itch of mammalian skin.
L'invention concerne des techniques permettant de donner un aspect régulier au tissu kératineux d'un mammifère. Ces techniques consistent à appliquer localement, sur le tissu kératineux d'un mammifère ayant besoin d'un tel traitement, une quantité efficace et sans risque d'une composition comprenant a) une quantité efficace et sans risque de farnésol, et b) un excipient dermatologiquement acceptable pour le farnésol. Selon des modes de réalisation supplémentaires, la composition précitée permet d'épaissir la peau, de prévenir et/ou retarder son atrophie, de prévenir et/ou retarder l'apparition de vaisseaux en araignée et/ou de tâche rouges, de prévenir et/ou retarder l'apparition de cernes sous les yeux, le jaunissement de la peau et son affaissement, le ramollissement et/ou le lissage des lèvres, des cheveux et de ongles, et de prévenir et/ou de soulager les démangeaisons.
