A process for the double bond isomerization of a vinylidene olefin, comprising contacting a feed comprising the vinylidene olefin with an isomerization catalyst which comprises a molecular sieve in an acidic form, which molecular sieve comprises pores which have a pore size of more than 0.6 nm; and a process for treating an olefin mixture which comprises a linear .alpha.-olefin and a vinylidene olefin which is isomeric to the linear .alpha.-olefin and which is of the general formula CH2=C(R1)R2, wherein R1 represents an ethyl group and R2 represents a linear 1-alkyl group, which process comprises isomerizing the vinylidene olefin to form a double bond isomer of the vinylidene olefine by contacting a feed comprising the olefin mixture with an isomerization catalyst which comprises a molecular sieve in an acidic form, which molecular sieve comprises pores which have a pore size of more than 0.6 nm, and separating the linear .alpha.-olefin from the double bond isomer of the vinylidene olefin.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'isomérisation de la double liaison d'une oléfine vinylidène, consistant à mettre en contact une matière première, comprenant l'oléfine vinylidène, et un catalyseur d'isomérisation constitué d'un tamis moléculaire sous forme acide, ce tamis moléculaire comportant des pores d'une taille supérieure à 0,6 nm, et un procédé de traitement d'un mélange d'oléfines comprenant une .alpha.-oléfine linéaire et une oléfine vinylidène isomère de l'.alpha.-oléfine et de formule générale CH¿2?=C(R?1¿)R?2¿, dans laquelle R?1¿ représente un groupe éthyle et R?2¿ représente un groupe 1-alkyle linéaire, ce procédé consistant à isomériser l'oléfine vinylidène afin de former un isomère à double liaison de l'oléfine vinylidène par mise en contact d'une matière première, comprenant le mélange d'oléfines, et un catalyseur d'isomérisation constitué d'un tamis moléculaire sous forme acide, ce tamis moléculaire comportant des pores d'une taille supérieure à 0,6 nm, et à séparer l'.alpha.-oléfine linéaire de l'isomère à double liaison de l'oléfine vinylidène.
