Abstract of the Invention The present invention provides a bag for receiving and containing merchandise and the like, the bag having at least one sheet of flaccid material folded at at least one first fold line to provide two juxtaposed wall panels having lower ends and adjacent side edges. The bag has a first seal line located below the first fold line and joining the two juxtaposed wall panels. A handle portion is formed above the first seal line. A second set of fold lines is formed by tucking the first seal line between the two juxtaposed wall panels thereby forming overlapping portions of the wall panels which form a gusset. Two second seal lines join both side edges of the two juxtaposed wall panels and the overlapping portions. The filling of the bag with merchandise results in the two juxtaposed wall panels assuming an open disposition having a top edge and end panels, and the handle extends outwardly from the top of the filled bag and has a width corresponding thereto.
