A sign language translation system and method not only recognizes words of a sign language but also supplements omitted words between the words of the sign language, to thereby generate a spoken language. The sign language translation system has an input unit for inputting at least the motion of hands, a language generating unit responsive to the inputted motion of hands for recognizing the words corresponding to the motion of hands and generating a spoken language using the relationship between the recognized words, and an output unit for outputting the generated spoken language. The sign language translation system and method can translate a sign language into an easy-to-understand spoken language.
L'invention est constituée par un système et une méthode de traduction de langage par signes qui reconnaissent non seulement les mots de langage par signes, mais insèrent également les mots qui ont été omis entre les mots de langage par signes afin de produire un langage parlé. Le système de traduction de langage par signes de l'invention comprend une unité de saisie servant à saisir le mouvement des mains au moins, une unité génératrice de langage qui réagit à la saisie du mouvement des mains en reconnaissant les mots correspondants à ce mouvement et en produisant un langage parlé à l'aide de la relation entre les mots reconnus, et une unité de sortie servant à produire le langage parlé produit.
