The present invention concerns a method for increasing plant yield and/or increased stress resistance by decreasing the level of activity of a DEL1 polypeptide. One such method comprises introducing into a plant a nucleic acid comprising a variant DEL1 nucleic acid. Another method comprises downregulating expression of a DEL1 gene. The invention also relates to transgenic plants having introduced therein a variant DEL1 nucleic acid thereof, which plants have increased yield and/or increased stress resistance relative to control plants. The present invention also concerns a novel DEL1 protein and its encoding sequence, and constructs useful in the methods of the invention.
La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant d~accroître le rendement végétal et/ou d'augmenter la résistance au stress en diminuant le niveau d'activité d'un polypeptide DEL1. Un tel procédé comprend l~introduction dans un végétal d~un acide nucléique comprenant une variante d~un acide nucléique DEL1. Un autre procédé comprend une frénation de l~expression d~un gène DEL1. L~invention concerne également des végétaux transgéniques au sein desquels a été introduite une variante d~acide nucléique DEL1 de ceux-ci, ce qui permet aux végétaux d'augmenter leur rendement et/ou de présenter une résistance au stress supérieure par rapport à des végétaux témoins. La présente invention concerne également une nouvelle protéine DEL1 et sa séquence codante et des structures utiles dans les procédés de l~invention.
