A video multiviewer system (30) may include a video input/output (I/O) controller (31), a system memory (32), and a graphics processing unit (GPU) (33) comprising a GPU memory (34). The system (30) may further include a central processing unit (CPU) (35) for operating the video I/O controller (31) to transfer video data to the GPU memory (34) via direct memory access (DMA) without being stored in the system memory (32), and a display (37) for displaying multiple video windows based upon video data in the GPU memory.
