A stent (100) comprising a coil, where the coil defines an interior lumen having a longitudinal axis and a first edge (101) and a second edge (102). A notch (103) is positioned adjacend the first edge (101) and is configured to receive the second edge (102). The notch (103) extends substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. Several ratcheted notches may be used.
