The present invention provides a deflectable catheter (10) whose puller member (32) connections are accomplished with minimal, if any, surface deformation which could otherwise accelerate breakage under tension. The catheter includes a molded member (60) that encases an end of a puller member to enable connection of the end to a fixed or movable structure in the control handle (16) without significant surface deformation in the puller member. The molded member is of a thermoplastic material that encases a preformed end of the puller member, which may be a puller wire or a high modulus fiber material.
La présente invention concerne un cathéter déviable dont les raccords de l'élément de traction sont obtenus sans déformation ou avec une légère déformation de la surface qui serait sinon susceptible d'accélérer la rupture lors d'une tension. Le cathéter comprend un élément moulé qui enferme une extrémité d'un élément de traction afin de permettre le raccord de l'extrémité à une structure fixe ou amovible présente dans la poignée de commande sans entraîner de déformation significative de la surface dans l'élément de traction. L'élément moulé se compose d'un matériau thermoplastique qui enferme une extrémité préformée de l'élément de traction pouvant être un fil de traction ou un matériau en fibre à module élevé.
