The invention relates to a process for producing a discharge lamp which is designed or dielectric barrier discharges in which, during a filling step, before the discharge chamber is closed, a part of the discharge vessel is held in a raised position by a support element which is then at least partially softened, in order for the part which is being held in a raised position to be lowered. The support element lies outside the discharge chamber.
