The invention relates to a method of producing a strap on a structural element that is made from a composite material which is formed, at least locally, from a stack of primary plies (N1 N7) of composite fibres defining at least one extension (113) which is intended to form the strap. The inventive method includes a step consisting in separating the primary plies at least at the extension and inserting separator plies (116) between the primary plies.
