A semiconductor solar cell formed on an optical fiber or fibers (100) including layers (30, 40) of semiconductor materials surrounds an annular extent of each fiber. The cell is embedded into a superstrate (200) which is a collimating lens. A method of manufacturing the cell and module are disclosed.
