A multilevel to multilevel conversion system in which a N-level symbol (0, 1) is converted into a N+1-level (A, B, C) such that a transition between two of the N+1-level output symbols represents one of the N-level input symbols. The multilevel encoding system allows for increased data transfer rates and provides self synchronization for decoding.

Cette invention se rapporte à un système de conversion multiniveau à multiniveau dans lequel un symbole (0, 1) du niveau N est transformé en un symbole (A, B, C) du niveau N+1, de façon à ce qu'une transition entre deux des symboles de sortie du niveau N+1 représente l'un des symboles d'entrée du niveau N. Ce système de codage multiniveau permet d'atteindre des vitesses de transfert de données accrues et il assure l'auto-synchronisation lors du décodage.
