This invention relates to an Anti Drink Spiking Lid, which may be used in any location. The lid is placed on drinks containers, most probably glasses, and prevents illicit substances being placed inside the container. More recently there have been considerable problems with members of the public in licensed premises have illicit drugs including Rohypnol (flunitrazepam) and GHB (Gamma Hexa Butyrate) placed in their drinks. These are commonly known as "Date Rape" drugs and are used by the perpetrator to render the victim insensible, with the sole intention of committing serious sexual offences or other crimes of violence. These drugs affect the memory and often the victim has no recollection of what has taken place. Lids for containers are well known and are invariably used to make sure that what is inside the container is kept fresh, the seal is watertight or to stop spilling etc. They are normally rigid structures especially around the outer circumference and are normally concerned about the substances inside the vessel. This invention has a very flexible outer rim unlike any other lid, specifically allowing it to fit over misshapen receptacles, and allowing it to fit over different size glasses. The considerable movement of the outside rim also allows the lid to fit same size glasses but with large differences in the thickness of the walls. Its sole purpose is to prevent unwanted substances being placed with ease into the vessel and is therefore not concerned about what is in the vessel. There are a large variety of drinking vessels in licensed premises and many have different sizes even for the same volume vessel - the inventions elasticity allows it to fit the maximum available glasses. It is not suggested that the invention will prevent "Date Rape" but will make the commission of the offences far more difficult.
