An improved hydraulic brake hose such as for automotive applications is formed of an EPDM elastomer core tube and one or more additional tube layers, each formed of such terpolymer compounded without processing oils and one or more interlying reinforcing layers of nonwater-base adhesive coated polyvinyl alcohol fibers. The absence of water from the reinforcing fibers provides thermal stability to the reinforcing layers, and theabsence of compounding oil from the EPDM terpolymers also provides improved high temperature properties for the hose.

Boyau amélioré pour frein hydraulique, utile par exemple pour les automobiles; il est constitué d'un tube central en élastomère et d'une ou de plusieurs couches tubulaires supplémentaires, chacune formée d'un terpolymère composé sans huile de traitement, et d'une ou de plusieurs couches intermédiaires de renfort à base de fibres de poly(alcool vinylique) revêtues d'un adhésif de type non aqueux. L'absence d'eau dans les fibres de renfort assure une bonne stabilité thermique aux couches de renfort, et l'absence d'huile de combinaison provenant des terpolymères d'EPDM communique elle aussi des propriétés améliorées à haute température au boyau.
