A storage container for compact discs and the like has a cylindrically shaped housing with an opening therein. An arcuate door is pivotable in a sliding arcuate path between blocking and unblocking positions relative to the opening. A plurality of arcuate cradles are located inside the housing, and pivotable at a point close to the opening. Each cradle is adapted to freely retain and support a disc. Each cradle can be pivoted between a storage position, where the disc and cradle are positioned in the housing, to an unloading position, where the disc can be removed from the cradle. When the door is closed, the cradles and discs are stabilized in the housing with the assistance of a bumper bar which traps the disc, and also prevents a disc being discharged from the cradle when a loaded cradle is pivoted to the storage position.
