Abstract Novel tricyclic compounds of the formula Image (I) in which A is -CH2CH2- or -OCH2- with the oxygen atom bonded to the aromatic ring and R1 and R2 independently of one another are hydrogen, halogen, alkyl having 1-4 C atoms or methoxy. These compounds can be used for the preparation of novel tricyclic imidyl derivatives which are suitable for the preparation of pho- tocrosslinkable polymers.
